The Sustainable Places Institute, Cardiff University
I assisted with communications before the department permanently closed. This involved creating website content, email newsletters and social media posts that promoted the legacy of the institute and final activities taking place. I was responsible for interpreting the research activities of academics associated with the institute and communicating their work into news stories. During this period I also delivered two virtual events with over 100 attendees, which included multiple guest speakers and concurrent break out rooms. I was responsible for promoting the events, tracking registration, follow up communications/reporting and liaising with stakeholders and guest speakers.

I was tasked with content creation and scheduling (photos, audio, videos and written copy) on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for a range of accounts. Early Modern Scottish Palaeography: Reading Scotland's Records
UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW
This 3 week course took place in 2020 and was delivered online by Future Learn. We explored early modern Scottish history through analysis of handwritten documents from the period.

MUSEUM PERSPECTIVES COURSE
This 3 day course was delivered in August 2019 by the curator and visitor experience professionals at the museum. Topics covered in the practical workshops included: how to organise & curate an exhibition, basic object conservation & cleaning techniques, writing an exhibition interpretation, delivering guided tours.

VOLUNTEERING

MUSEUM EXHIBITION VOLUNTEER
When the Natural History Museum's iconic Diplodocus dinosaur skeleton was briefly on loan in Cardiff I volunteered. I supervised the public interaction with our cart of fossils which could be handled and looked at. I also answered any questions visitors had about the exhibition and provided/demonstrated interactive activities for children such as colouring pages, treasure hunts, mask making etc. Click here for more info.

DIGITAL ARCHIVIST
The March of the Women project was delivered by the Surrey History Trust in 2018. I contributed to this project by viewing hundreds of scanned newspaper documents and indexing the data of these into a spreadsheet, which could be used to enhance the search function of the History Trust website - making it easier for guests to search up historical articles that mentioned suffragette/suffragist activities in the area. I also designed and edited a new-look newsletter for members.

TRANSCRIPTION
Over a one day workshop I was introduced to the basics of Early Modern English paleography. I was then placed in a group and tasked with transcribing as much of one 17th century pamphlet as possible. The results from this workshop contributed to the Manuscript Pamphleteering in Early Stuart England, delivered jointly by the University of Birmingham, University of Bristol.
